Hello everybody welcome to the five minutes BM podcast today. I like to share with you one email that I received from a listener asking me what makes a real difference when controlling a project. And it's very, very important to understand because all the time we, we want to control. Imagine that you are doing some horse riding and you want to control the horse. But of course you need to understand that it's not jumped into the horse and try to control.

There's a lot of homework we should do to make sure that we can accomplish this in a proper way. And I want to share with you three off this major aspects that I think if we do, we'll be successful, the first one is a good plan. So you need to have a great plan. The plan is the reference. The plan is your baseline is your baseline. I told this in many other podcasts, the plan is like a photo is like your portrait.

How you can see that if you are becoming older, if your hair is becoming gray, if you're losing hair, you need to compare in a way. We usually don't see this change in our self, in a daily base ask every single day. When you go to your a mirror and look to yourself, you where something like reset on your baseline, your mental baselines, but when you stay far away from someone for a long, long time and see them, you say lops something, change it.

Why? Because you have this reference, we've out the reference we can compare or anything. We cannot. Nope. If we are on time, I had behind scat of spending too much spending less. We need to understand this. So without the plan, it's impossible to control. The second thing it's more related about the human behavior is productivity. You need to understand that the problem will not knock your door, sit on in front of you in your desk and tell you, look I'm problem.

You need to know how to handle with me. This doesn't exist. The problem is on the field. Always the problem is on the field. Always, you need to understand that you cannot manage your project from your desk. You need to control from the field, looking into the face of the people and see what's going on. This. You need to look, you need to one understand what is going on.

You cannot just react. And this drives me to the third aspect that this prevention against reaction. What do I mean by that is that you need to do more risk management and less ish management. What does this risk management I'm handling with uncertainty? I'm handling with something that I'm not sure if it will happen or not, but issue is something that is real.

It's a real trouble that I need to manage. And it's far much easier to do risk management than to do issue management. Because in the ease of management, you have already the problem on the risk management, you are working with possible scenarios, your acting to find ways to prevent that event. So this is really, really important. So the prevention, let me give you an example about Brazil right now, Brazil, the marketplace is doing well comparing with or other places.

So you know that when the market is well and there is a lack of qualified people, what happened with the qualified people, salaries go up, offered, increase for them, and you need to keep Dan in your team. So what can you do? You need to find ways to prevent an, what it is to correct is that I lost three of my key team members.

Now what I do look, it's two different scenarios. You know, that this problem can happen. You can lose them. What can you do to avoid that instead of just correcting it with a much higher price, with a much higher stress. So if you want to control, you need to understand these three aspects without good plan, that there is no urnet Valley. There is no Control. There is nothing, nothing proactivity key.

Look for things. Don't wait them to find You turd one, work on the prevention and not on the correction with the straight aspects. I'm pretty sure the possibility of effectiveness of your project management process in your contract process. We'll be in place for sure.
