Hello everybody. And welcome to the five minutes BM podcast today to continue the podcast about the risks Since of protein Failure last week, I discussed five reasons, lack of understanding, project scope, scope, creep, lack of sponsorship in that rate estimates and over optimism this week, I want to discuss other five Reasons that if we can avoid, and if we can manage, we reduce dramatically the probability of failure of our projects, the sixth one or the first one four today it's poor communications.

Communications is a process that is really interesting. Nobody thinks that we need to do something special to communicate, just talk and someone listen, just write in some one read. No, this is not right. The communications is a two way process with a lot of Cointreau aspects, personal perception. It's not just prepare report in, put on the wall that a communication is ready or no. So we need to understand that we are handling and dealing with people and people have different feelings, different beliefs, different cultural aspects.

So we need to understand the communications is a core process of the project management work. So its, or it's as important as a scope as time and as costs. If you do not communicate well, this will be a really, really a big trouble for you. The seventh one or the second one for today. It's think that project management is a waste of time. Okay. We are spending this week just with paper, let's go to the field and let's work on the field.

It's really, really important to go to the field, but you need to go to the field with the right tools to do the work. So project management is not a waste of time and it's really, really important to share with you. What are the things that my first professor of Rose at management says to me like he was talking about Brazilian businessmen and he said that the Brazilian businessman, they never have time to plan, but they always have money to rework.

So this is really, really a very powerful at Colton, a powerful statement. And there's a lot of misperception on that. That project management is to go to the field. But if you don't go to the field with the right tools, know exactly what you need to do the rationality behind that it will be a mess. So the project management and I don't have a, exactly the number of to share with you every single minute that to spend in project planning will save you a hundred minutes in this occlusion due to problems, crisis management and everything.

I wrote a lot of things about crisis management and crisis management is all about prevention. If you can prevent crisis, it will be great. If you are inside the crisis, Deanne, the prices are in another step. You will be losing and we are discussing how much we'll be losing if we need to be extremely high loss or not. Project management is not only a technical discipline, it's a management discipline. So we need to lead our team's to the result. And we need to coach to be like a coach to our team to produce the results that we want. So this is that correct? Extremely important because a lot of people think that project management is only the technical side or I need to build a hospital.

So it just breaks and equipments, no it's people, your handling with people, you need to lead them and make sure that they are in the right place doing the right work. And I know it's very, very important folks that we need that all this way Reasons that we are discussing here. The poor communications that think that PM is a waste of time. The poor change management, process' the lack of leadership, the air, not only the major Reasons, there is one extremely powerful.

It's the inadequate resources. You don't have the right people. You you are thinking that everybody can do everything and this is great. Not right. So you need to have the right resources. And this is a big challenge. I remember jumping out a cop from IBM, he was doing in his speech and that, and he said, one is a very interesting thing. And imagine the kid you give to a child, a hammer, and then all the award will be used that buy this hammer.

So so it's, it's really, really interesting because it's a typical of how people use in a bad way, a tool. So a knife should be used for four something, a Caesar for a, not a thing, a hammer for a nodder things and engineers are use it for one thing, carpenters for another thing. So we need to understand this. And it's very challenging this because usually we have the scores resources. So we need to understand this.

So I hope with this guy is this 10 reasons. If you can manage them the five or Today or communications PM is a waste of time or change management process, lack of leadership and inadequate resources.
