Hello everybody welcome to the five minutes PM podcast today. I like to share with you some concerns that I have about the project management role and also some aspects of our authority that is pretty much related to this So first thing that we need to understand then what is expected from the project manager. And first for me, the project management is responsible for the Project results.

He, he he's like the owner of the Project. He has a power and now toricity to influence all variables to make the product successful. So he drives the car. He decides he has this empowerment. And is this something that you need to look for? Because if you don't look for disempowerment to be an extremely hard for you to deliver results, but we need to understand that not everybody that disk called pros at Manager are really managing projects, because a lot of people that they have the title of project manager, they are working much more as the project office than the project manager.

And it's really, I recorded a podcast to talk about this, but it's really very important that we understand that the Project office collecting formation processing formation does all the communication process to be like the dashboard, like the panel that will support your group, the project manager and the he's. The main stakeholders are the core team, have the project to make the decision. So sometimes you call yourself as project manager, but you are not managing the project.

But you were not deciding on the project. So you need to look or Authority, you need to look for empowerment, the level of what does the expect that from You. So if I give you a very big challenge that you need to make a lot of decisions, I need to empower you to do that.

I need to give you the authority to do that. And this concept around the authorities is very polymeric because a lot of people, they attached it Authority with something like power, a form of power, all he has the power because he's the manager. And I have a type of, of prose at Manager, but I'm not really a, a functional manager. So it's really dizzy is not relevant for what we are discussing right now. What does relevant is that what is expected for you?

And do you have the keys and the ability to drive this to that, that way, if you do not have the new nice to have empowered authority In and we need to find us in your hands, if you were looking for improvements or to support someone else, that will be really directing the Project. You are not managing Project. You are reworking as a project officer, or you were working as a member of the PMO that is supporting not a group that will be taken the decisions around the project is very, very, a lot of people mix up everything.

They think that because your project manager, you need to have the Authority. So we need to understand the authority for what, for what to deliver the project results than you are doing project management. Then you where the project management, and then you have, you need to have authority to do that in the second thing, what you call yourself, project manager, but you are working on a PMO supporting people that are really managing the project. So in this case, you need to have the level of authority, have a PMO so that the main things happen into support project managers to do that job and not to manage the project directly.
